Hello Families!
Welcome to January 2024! Happy New Year to you all! We hope that you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break, and enjoyed the holidays! There are a few things to update for this new year, so please read through all the information below:
Weekly activities:
Starting next week (week of January 14) we will be moving our weekly activities to TUESDAY nights. [Hello, Bishop here. The date location and start of this have not yet been decided yet]. We found that there were many families experiencing scheduling conflicts with Wednesday nights, and feel that this change will allow more of our youth to attend each week. As this will be the same night as the Clearbrook Ward, we also decided to adjust our meeting time to match up with theirs, so our new time will be 6:30pm to 8:00pm
. We hope this will also simplify things for families who have children in activity days and youth.
- New Youth Night: Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:00pm
This week we will have our activity on Wednesday, Jan 10, as we already have a temple trip booked. (Details below). Tentative Activity plans and corresponding dates for this month will be as follows:
- Tues Jan 16 – Days for Girls
- Tues Jan 23 – Anxiety: Coping tools
- Tues Jan 30 – Combined with YM Introduction to 2024 youth theme video, fun and games
Sunday YW Class:
We have decided that during our first class this month (Jan 14), we will use some of this time to plan out our teaching schedule for the year, and finalize our activity plans. We would like to have as many of our youth involved in planning this out as possible. Once we have done this, we will add the teaching schedule to the bottom of these weekly emails. I always include three months in advance, so you have lots of time to prepare or find someone to fill in if you aren’t available. We also want to remind our youth that we want to support you in your lessons, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the presidency if you need any assistance or guidance at all.
New Presidency Member:
We are excited to welcome Sister Martin as one of our Counsellors in Young Women! We look forward to serving with her, and for the youth to get to know her!
This week’s activity: Temple Baptisms
- Date: Wednesday January 10
- Time: 6:20 – approximately 8:30
- Location: Vancouver Temple
- Details: Please be at the temple for 6:20, baptisms begin at 6:30. Please also make sure to double check that your recommend is current. If not, contact a member of the bishopric and they will get that sorted out for you! We are excited to start off the year with such a wonderful activity together!
