SUBJECT: I could go for some BBQ (Aug 7, 2023)Olá a todos!

Espero que vocês estejam bem. How are you guys doing this week? This past week has been a little weird and I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Anyways a really cool thing happened this past week, we were teaching our friend in the park and a random dude sat in on the lesson. He just walked up and said, “May I?”, then sat down. It was kind of cool and it was a super spiritual lesson about the Restauração. It was awesome.

Something less cool that happened this week is our friend Amélia moved to France. She was baptized the week before and told us on Wednesday that she would move on Friday. That was a little rough, but she promised she would keep going to church and reading the Book of Mormon.

Other than that nothing crazy happened. I hope you guys have a good week.

Um abraço,

SUBJECT: Amo Africanos (July 31st)

Olá a todos!

Dang, where I should start? This week has been pretty crazy. This past week we had a division, a ton of lessons, and a batismo.

I’ll start with the division. It was pretty cool to spend the day with Elder Hammond. We had a lesson that was an hour walk away so most of the day was street contacts on the way to and from said lesson. The lesson foi top. We taught the Restauração and at the end of the lesson I felt like we should bless the house. We blessed it and the Holy Spirit was super strong it was awesome.

The week was just crazy with lessons. There a few times were we just had time to talk to people during the half an hour break between lessons.

O batismo dela foi um milagre mesmo. Our friend Amélia was baptized on Saturday and it was such a blessing to see. The hot water was a struggle, meaning we didn’t have any. The church is hooked up to a very large gas tank and the gas was empty. So we ended up boiling water and dumping it in the font. The water was still cold, but when I started saying the words we couldn’t feel the cold. It was super special and she is such an awesome lady. She used to be a Jeovah Witness so she is always going crazy with the studies in the book of Mormon.

Funny story:

We were walking and talking to people on the road and a massive group of Angolians showed up and took some pictures with us. Some of the ladies kept saying we were beautiful in Portuguese not knowing that we speak Portuguese. It was a little funny to see their reactions when they realized that we speak Portuguese.

Um abraço,

Elder Vermeeren
