Jan 8: Sou James Bond
Olá a todos,
Long time no email. So this past week has been a short one but super crazy. We have been running around so much that this transfer has flown by.
On thursady we had zone conference and it was super awesome. We talked about how we can better our teaching using chapter 10 of Pregar Meu Evangelho. It was awesome and we learned a ton. The best part was the talk that Sister Barcellos gave about Angels being round about us. It was a good reminder to look around and recognize the miracles that happen in this work.
The rest of the week, we did normal missionary work. It was pretty good and we found a ton of people! We also found this guy named Alberto who is awesome. In the first contact we invite him to be baptized and he said yes. He was super cool.
Also to the crazy old Portuguese guy, yes I am James Bond.
All the best,
Elder Vermeeren
Jan 22: I didn’t forget, I just remembered 5 minutes after P-day ended
Olá Queridos,
Woah these past two weeks have been wild. The week before this past week I hardly saw my companion because we did so many exchanges and this past week has been gone by so fast that it is all a blurr.
So to be completely honest I don’t even know where to start. So I’ll only share one story. In Cascais I was on an exchange with Elder Warren and we decided to go and visit some people as well as knock some doors while we were over there. When we got there I felt like we should really say a prayer so that we could be guided the spirit a find the one person who needs peace. We felt impressed to knock this apartment build across the street. As we ran the first buzzer the door was opened and we were let in by this cool Brazilian guy. He invited us into his house and started to teach him about the Restoration or at least a big part of it. The spirit was super strong and you could tell that his was touched by it. He invited us to come back on Wednesday, unfortunately I couldn’t be there for it because I went back to my area. It is really cool what miracles can happen when we ask to know what the Lord wants us to do.
I had the thought to share a scripture with you all. 1 Timothy 4: 12
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
The good book says that you shall know them by their fruits, this simple phrase make we reflect on myself. What my fruits? Am I being examples of the believers? Reflecting on these questions lead to a sweet repentance and a greater ability to feel the love of Christ. So I want all the readers of this letter to pause and reflect. If you have any habit or any fruit that is contrary to Gospel of Jesus Christ. I plead with you to repent and do better. Understand that I invite you to do this so you are not only a follower of Christ, but that you may be guided by him.
All the best,
Elder Vermeeren
