In celebration of Earth Day, join us for a day of learning how to reduce our carbon footprint. The
main activity will be a Photo Scavenger Hunt on Vancouver transit where youth will learn how to
navigate the routes of the city including buses, sky trains and sea buses while seeing the
beautiful sites of the area. After the Photo Scavenger Hunt, the youth will continue to learn
about living green including urban gardening techniques.
Schedule of Events
| 10am – 11am | Registration for Photo Scavenger Hunt Instructions for navigating city transit |
| 11am -12pm | Groups of 10 youth and 2 leaders are sent of in four separate waves with photo scavenger lists that include different destinations Bagged lunch and Compass cards for transit will be provided |
| 3pm | All groups must be back at the church by 3pm Check in with registraton when they return to the chapel to ensure the required photos were taken |
| 3pm-4pm | Hive Mind Discussion on using transit Urban Gardening Sports in the park Video on living green |
| 4pm | Dinner – chilli |
| 5pm | Pickup |
Each ward must send two leaders for every ten youth. There are many opportunities for
additional leaders and parents to volunteer. Please complete the survey to sign up for assigned
tasks.
All related expenses to riding city transit will be covered for both youth and leaders. If youth
have Compass monthly passes, they are welcome to bring them.
In the interest of reducing our carbon footprint, we ask that everyone come with their own
water bottles and backpacks to carry their lunches on transit. We also encourage the youth and
leaders to carpool.
